Rise of the footsoldier retribution

Craig Fairbass Returns For Rise of the Footsolider: Retribution

Set in a backdrop of classic trance tunes, mercenaries & beautiful Balearic coastlines, Pat Tate returns to seek "retribution" in the latest instalment of the Rise of the Footsolider franchise.

First hitting the big screen back in 2007, Rise of the Footsoldier gave us a unique insight into the Essex underworld of the 1980s & 1990s with a build up to the notorious Essex boys murders where Tony Tucker, Patrick Tate & Craig Rolfe were gunned down in a Range Rover in a field in Rettendon in 1995. Following the rise of footsolider' Carlton Leach from ICF hooligan to nightclub bouncer & underworld enforcer as the rave scene took its hold on the Essex nightclubs with the introduction of Ecstasy & Acid House. With its legendary nightclub scene courtesy of 'French Kiss' by Lil Louis & a steroid fuelled Pat Tate, played by Craig Fairbass, the Rise of the Footsoldier franchise has boasted another 5 films since its original in 2007. With a focus more on Pat Tate and his own personal story, the character has grown from an Essex boy gangster to an almost Liam Neeson Taken-esque type. Craig Fairbass now returns as Pat Tate for 2026 with Rise of the Footsoldier Retribution.

Written & directed by Nick Nevern, the latest Rise of the Footsoldier film features Fairbass back as Pat Tate alongside fellow Londoners in the form of Tamer Hassan (The Football Factory) & Leo Gregory (Green Street). Jamie Foreman (Layer Cake) also joins the cast as Tate travels to Ibiza to seek "retribution" from criminals who murdered his friend. As the plot thickens Pat finds himself in a deadly conflict between arms traffickers, mercenaries & the CIA. Rise of the Footsoldier: Retribution launches exclusively in cinemas from August 28th 2026.
