PUMA Go "All White" With The Roma Leather Trainer
We're big fans of "all white" trainers at 80s Casual Classics and this latest leather Roma trainer from PUMA ticks all the boxes.
Whether it's a classic pair of creps from Reebok or this very latest leather version of the Roma from PUMA, there's something just that little bit special about an "all white" trainer. Cult classic films like 'The Football Factory' from Nick Love did a pretty good job of portraying early noughties "casual" fashion with fights scenes full of white trainers, the finest knitwear from brands like Prada & C.P. Company alongside Henri Lloyd jackets & some classic Burberry check thrown in for good measure. Some 20 plus years later & the whole white trainers with jeans & big jackets thing has remained a Casual staple. As new trends come and go, it's brands like PUMA that have continued to pioneer archive silhouettes from yesteryear, as the original wearers pass yet another year their passion remains just as strong for the "big cat" brand. 2026 sees PUMA turn their attention to one of their very first trainers of all time with an "all white" leather re-release of the Roma trainer.

As adidas had already released the Rom, in celebration of the Rome Olympics in 1960, the PUMA Roma looked to the Euros football tournament in 1968 which was held in Italy to springboard their big cat shoes onto the beautiful game. At the height of the Dassler brothers' bitterly brotherly rivalry the Roma was a testament to the "one-upmanship" approach, not only to designing the very best trainers, but also promoting it on a global stage at a major sporting event. After various re-releases over the last near 60 years, the Roma has gained a loyal following thanks to its connection to the original Casuals of the early 1980s as well as the retro sportswear clad indie-rockers of the 1990s.

Bringing back the original Big Cat silhouette from 1968, the Roma is now re-introduced in an all leather iteration. Highlights include the signature t-toe detailing & toe bumper to the front with an extra grippy gum rubber outsole underfoot. Finished off with PUMA cat branding in gold foiling to the lateral sides with the German sportswear brand's signature formstrip to the sidewalls this latest leather version of the Roma is "all white".
